Your Background, Including Professional Journey and Current Role and Responsibilities within the Organization
I am the senior director of learning and development at Altitude Trampoline Park. My career spans over 23 years in the restaurant industry, where I have supported franchise and corporate locations in various learning and development capacities. Having joined Altitude Trampoline Park two years ago, I continue to be deeply involved in learning and development, much like my previous role.
In my current position, my primary focus lies in crafting learning curricula and correlating learning outcomes to business goals. Given that our industry revolves around trampolines, a significant part of my work centers on risk mitigation. I am dedicated to implementing comprehensive training programs in our parks and establishing best practices to minimize potential risks associated with our attractions and guests.
I also have the privilege of being appointed as an executive board member of the International Adventure & Trampoline Park Association (IATP), a non-profit organization devoted entirely to protecting and promoting the interests of the adventure & trampoline park industry.
Definition of a Great Leader
Leadership is a quality that many people aspire to have, but few can master. It is about having authority or power and passion and purpose. Great leaders are effective in managing tasks and resources and building trust and rapport with their followers. Leadership is not a fixed trait that one is born with or without, but a skill that can be learned and developed over time.
Most Important Aspect of Leadership
One of the most critical aspects of leadership is communication. A great leader can communicate effectively with different audiences using various modes and channels. They can clearly articulate their goals and expectations, listen actively and empathetically, and provide constructive feedback and recognition. They can also adapt their communication style to suit the situation, whether formal or informal, verbal or non-verbal, or written or spoken. Communication is the key to building trust, rapport, and engagement among the team and stakeholders.

Importance of a Clear Vision Important When Leading an Organization
A vision provides direction and purpose. A great leader has a clear and compelling vision of the future and can communicate it to others in a way that inspires them to join the journey. They can also align their vision with the organization's values and mission and show how it benefits the common good. They focus on not just short-term goals but also the long-term impact and legacy. They can also anticipate and adapt to the changing needs and challenges of the environment and foster a culture of innovation and creativity.
A vision also demonstrates that leaders clearly and coherently understand the situation and the desired outcomes. It also shows that leaders have the confidence and the competence to lead change and to achieve results. It creates a sense of accountability and responsibility among other leaders within the organization and their subordinates.
Leading with Integrity Crucial
Leadership with integrity is essential for several reasons. First, it builds trust and credibility among followers, peers, and stakeholders. Trust and credibility are crucial for effective communication, collaboration, and influence. Second, it fosters a positive and ethical culture in the organization. A positive and ethical culture promotes innovation, learning, and performance. Third, it enhances one's personal and professional reputation and growth. A good reputation and growth attract more opportunities, recognition, and rewards for the organization and the leader. Moreover, leaders who lead with integrity can leave a legacy that leaves a lasting impact on the organization and enjoy a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in their lives.
